Baby Benjamen Thornberg

This is a quick and easy workout that gets baby involved. The movements are simple and each engage the little one so they feel like they're part of the action. I suggest waiting until initial post-feeding spit ups are finished, as the reverse burpee might initiate a daddy bath.

Workout

Perform each movement with 10 seconds rest in between:

  • 1 minute Wall Sit with Figure 8 Baby Hold
  • 1 minute Push Ups with Baby Kisses
  • 1 minute Reverse Burpees
  • 1 minute Floor Cleaner
  • 1 minute Wall Sit with Figure 8 Baby Hold

This circuit can be repeated as time and baby's mood allows.

Movement Tips

  • Wall Sit with Figure-8 Baby Hold - Engage your core and keep your head up as you extend your baby outward. Gently move them in a figure eight while keeping the baby engaged and talking. Ignore the pain in your legs by remembering how cute your little one is.
  • Push Ups with Baby Kisses - Place baby on their back and perform a push up above them. At the bottom of each push up, give your baby a kiss. Try to alternate which baby cheek you kiss. Note: slobbery kisses still count.
  • Reverse Burpees - From a hollow rock position on your back, roll forward to the bottom of a squat, then stand. As a dynamic movement, use momentum and a tight core in the hollow to squat transition. Don't fling the baby behind your head, focus on a controlled movement. Only perform this movement if child is happy and possesses enough neck control.
  • Floor Cleaner - This is essentially a baby blanket sled push. Place baby on blanket and put your hands on either side of your baby's head. While keeping your core tight and your buttocks low, push the blanket across the floor. Turn around and return when you reach the end of the room.
